The 2 nd floor display room gives us a good idea
of Yeoju's long history, which began in the Paleolithic
Age. There are stone utensils and tools, excavated
in Neungseo-myeon and Gangcheon-myeon and used by
ancient Yeoju residents during the Paleolithic Age.
Next to these, is an illustration of the history
of rice farming in Korea. A diorama was built to
give visitors a better idea of what it was like
to live during those times.
Also on display is a model of a burial mound and
stone, a good representation of how strategically
important, militarily speaking, Yeoju was during
the period of the Three Kingdoms.
Nearby are displayed artifacts such as a rain hat,
a fur-lined hood, an ink stone, a brush and an ink
slab. There is also a diorama of the traditional
folk play, ¡°Ssangryong Geojuldarigi,¡± which won
the President's Award at the National Folk Play
Competition. Also on display are the convex and
distinguished tiles, which were first used in the
8 th century. Finally, there are also displays of
excavated ceramic artifacts, which were made over
a thousand years ago giving evidence to the fact
that Yeoju is indeed the ceramics capital in the
country. |
