The Silleuksa Temple Shrine was presumably built
in the early Joseon period (era of King Yejong).
It was built to respect the so-called Three Buddhist
Priests, Jigong, Naong, and Muhak, who were the
hopes for a declining Buddhism in the late Goryeo
period.A portrait of Naong is enshrined in the center
and portraits of Jigong and Muhak are on the left
and right side. A wooden statue of Naong had also
been installed in the shrine. This Shrine is the
oldest amongst all of the buildings in Silleuksa
Temple. There are walls on three sides and a latticed
door on the front. This is a small building built
on a stone foundation without a pillar. The floors
and ceilings are checkered, a Buddhist altar is
at the back wall and there are doors on each side. |
