This is a common kind of stone pagoda that is 3.7m
high. There is a three-storied pagoda body on a
two-storied square stylobate. This pagoda is a square
shaped three-storied stone pagoda built on a two-storied
stylobate, which demonstrates a preservation of
the typical Silla style. The upper side of the lower
stylobate is steeply carved and at its center there
is a two-layer base to support the middle-stone
of the three-storied stylobate. The middle stone
of the three-storied stylobate consists of four
flat stones, two of which have engravings. The stone
covering the stylobate is relatively thin and has
tilted eaves and a high two-storied base. Each of
the roof stones has shallow engravings and the first
roof stone is especially high. Each roof stone¡¯s
base is made up of four layers and the eaves are
parallel with a tilt at the end. The ¡®Sangryun¡¯
part of this pagoda has been completely lost. When
this pagoda was moved from the old temple site in
Ha-ri in 1958, a unique case for the relic bones
of a Buddhist priest were found inside the pagoda.
However, the usage of this case cannot be known
for sure, as there were no contents left in the
case.In consideration of its outside structure,
we presume this pagoda to have been built in the
mid-Goryeo age. This pagoda was moved here from Ha-ri,
Yeoju-eup in 1958. |
